Sudan and South Sudan Bishops Conference
President of Sudan and South Sudan Catholic Bishops Conference Rt. Rev. Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala has expressed immense gratitude to the Holy Father Pope Francis for appointing a shepherd to the faithful of Torit Diocese as he assures the bishop-elect support and prayers.

In a message shared with AMECEA Online News, Bishop Hiiboro of Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio said that the Bishop-Elect Rt. Rev. Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla is bringing a wealth of experience to Torit, owing to his background in education as Dean of Studies at St. Paul's Major Seminary in Juba since 2001 as well as lecturer at the Catholic University of South Sudan.

“I offer my sincere congratulations and prayerful support to the Bishop-elect on what is a joyous day for him, his family, friends and the entire Diocese of Torit,”  says Bishop Hiiboro  adding, “My friend and my brother Bishop-Elect, as I congratulate you, I assure you of our closeness, collaboration, working together, and prayers for you! I am now complete because you are in!”

He said that as they continue to thank God for the gift of a new Bishop, they remain unceasingly prayerful for more shepherds for the dioceses of Malakal, Rumbek and Wau which are still vacant. “Our prayers are much for this intention and for the Holy Father Pope Francis who always has South Sudan at heart.”

He urged the Bishop-elect to make peace-building an important agenda in his Diocese since his appointment has come at an opportune time when the country is focusing on the implementation of peace in South Sudan and a fulfilment of promises which can transform South Sudan into a nation of a people with true freedom and true Peace.

“Bishop – Elect, Rt. Rev. Stephen Dr. Ameyu, I look forward to join you in walking together with Christ, building with Christ, and proclaiming Christ to all. May the Lord be always among us and bless us with his grace and peace. Congrats my dear brother and God bless you and your beloved flock!”
