Kenya Catholic Bishops on Thursday, January 17, added their voices to world leaders and people of good will in offering consolation and condolences to families affected by the Tuesday terrorists attack at Nairobi’s Dusit D2 complex on 14 Riverside Drive.
A total of 21 people have been confirmed dead while the Kenya Red Cross Society officials on Thursday said all people reported missing in the Dusit D2 complex attack have been accounted for. The officials indicated that Red Cross had 94 reports of missing people and that all had been located by Thursday noon. Among the people reported dead were an American, an Australian and a British national.
The number 21 confirmed dead however does not include the terrorists who were also killed during the 20-hour siege that ended on Wednesday morning, having been
professionally managed by the Kenyan Forces’ multi-agency team led by the General Service Unit.
“We, stand firm with the people of Kenya and the International Community to condemn these terror attacks which have once again affected us, as a country,” said the Kenyan Bishops’ statement which was signed by the Chairman of the Conference Most Rev. Philip Anyolo, Archbishop of Kisumu.

The Bishops who affirmed their commitment to work with the Government to preserve the common good, support the innocent and promote peaceful co-existence also called upon all Religious leaders and citizens to continue providing spiritual support to those affected and their families.
“We must reject all propagated divisions aimed at dividing us on the basis of ethnicity, politics, gender and religion. Let us be our brother’s keeper and remain vigilant, working closely with our security officers to deter similar attacks within our peaceful Nation,” they advised.
Meanwhile, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta in his address to the nation on Wednesday morning, said that all the attackers were neutralized and more than 700 people evacuated from the Dusit D2 complex which houses a number of offices as well as businesses.

“We will seek out every person involved in the funding, planning and execution of this heinous act. We will pursue them wherever they will be, until they are held to account," President Uhuru vowed.
The President also assured Kenyans and all visitors that they are safe in the country as necessary security measures are currently being taken to deal with the terrorists.
