The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Council has appointed new heads to the various committees to help steer the university towards fulfilling its mandates. This has happened during their first council meeting after the 19th AMECEA Plenary Assembly which was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in July 2018.
The CUEA Council Membership is made up of Bishop representatives from AMECEA Region, the Secretary General of AMECEA, the CUEA Vice Chancellor and a number of distinguished experts in academia, legal and financial arena.
The Bishops Representatives from AMECEA countries who were appointed during the last AMECEA Plenary Assembly includes: Rt. Rev. Maurice Muhatia Makumba - Council Chairman (Kenya); Rt. Rev. Benjamin S. Phiri (Zambia); Rt. Rev. Markos Ghebremedhin, C.M. (Ethiopia); Rt. Rev. Bernadin Mfumbusa (Tanzania); Rt. Rev. Martin Mtumbuka (Malawi); Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki (Uganda); Rt. Rev. Maurice A. Crowley (Kenya); Most. Rev. Menghesteab Tesfamariam, MCCJ (Eritrea) and Rt. Rev. Macram Max Gassis (Sudan/South Sudan Conference).
Apart from the Bishops, the full membership of the University Council includes the following: Prof. Edward Kirumira who is also Vice Chairman of the CUEA Council (Uganda); Prof. Apollinaria Elikana Pereka (Tanzania); Mr. Peter Ndaa (Kenya); Mrs. Bibiana Bulaya-Kearns (Zambia); Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Makunde (AMECEA Secretary General) and Rev. Prof. Stephen Mbugua (Vice Chancellor/Secretary to the Council).
The three committees within the CUEA Council include the Audit and Risk Management Committee which is headed by Mr. Peter Ndaa as the Chairman. And members include Most. Rev. Menghesteab Tesfamariam, MCCJ; Prof. Apollinaria Elikana Pereka; Mrs. Bibiana Bulaya-Kearns and the AMECEA Secretary General.
The Finance, Planning and Development Committee is headed by Prof. Edward Kirumira as the Chairman, while members include Rt. Rev. Benjamin S. Phiri, Rt. Rev. Markos Ghebremedhin, C.M., Rt. Rev. Martin Mtumbuka, Mr. Peter Ndaa, Mrs. Bibiana Bulaya-Kearns and the AMECEA Secretary General.
The CUEA Staffing Committee is headed by Rt. Rev. Bernadin Mfumbusa as Chairman; Prof. Apollinaria Elikana Pereka; Prof. Edward Kirumira, Rt. Rev. Maurice A. Crowley, and the AMECEA Secretary General.
