SOUTH SUDAN: Thieves raid Wau Bishop’s Residence

Two teenager boys entered into Wau Catholic Bishop’s Compound early Sunday morning of last week and broke the back screen of the bishop’s car and stole some items which were in the car.

Information received from South Sudan said that the Bishop of Wau Diocese, His Lordship Rudolf Deng Majak said that he heard a very noisy sound like that of a glass breaking at around 4:00 am.
 
He said that after arresting the burglars, (two boys: one 14 and another 18 years old) the police discovered that they possessed two mobile phones of Bishop Deng stolen from his car.
 
However, Bishop Deng Majak told the police to release them describing them as “victims of war." He appealed that something need to be to reform them.
 
He said that it was the responsibility of the government and church leaders to bring change in the society and reduce the number of street children in their country.
 
In the meantime, a total of 23 participants: (Priests, Sisters and the Lay people) working in the 14 parishes of Rumbek Catholic Diocese have undergone a six day training on project management  that was held in Rumbek town last week. 
 
The workshop was sponsored by DKA- Austria DKA Austria – (Dreikönigsaktion) - the Catholic Children's Movement of Austria. 
 
Speaking at the closing event the Diocesan Coordinator Fr John Mathiang appreciated the role played by facilitator Wolfgang Dewald especially in the way he was able to help them gain skills in project planning and implementation.
 
Fr Mathiang thanked DKA- Austria and Nairobi Diocesan Pastoral Finance Desk for supporting the Rumbek Diocese since the death of Bishop Caesar Mazzolari.
 
He assured the donors that the projects they supported were received and implemented fully.
