The Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Torit, His Lordship Paride Taban has called on South Sudanese Government leaders to emulate the style of leadership of the former Tanzanian President Julius Nyerere.
Information received from South Sudan stated that Bishop Taban urged the political leaders to lead the country peacefully. “The people of South Sudan suffered a lot during the liberation struggle and there was no need for more bloodshed in the country,” he said.
He noted that peace in South Sudan could be achieved through justice, respect among people and dialogue to resolve differences. He thanked Eastern Equatoria government and residents for remaining calm and peaceful.
Eastern Equatoria is among the seven states which continued to experience relative calm after the recent outbreak of fighting in South Sudan.
