The great Jubilee Centre dubbed ‘The Well’, a developmental project for the Kenya Conference of the Catholic Bishops (KCCB) is ongoing and is expected to be accomplished by March or April, 2018.

Speaking to Waumini News Today during a visit to the construction, KCCB Chairman for Commission for Finance Rt. Rev James Maria Wainaina said that, the contractor should be able to hand over the building to KCCB once its construction is complete.

Bishop Wainaina who called for more business men and women to take up the available spaces confirmed that, the two story building strategically located at Ngong, Rongai in Langata-Nairobi, already has potential clients.

“The building is expected to conclude by March or April next year. A lot of space has been taken and more are still available therefore, those who are willing to put up business should come forward and book them. The basement is done, the contractor is finishing the ground floor, the concrete work is done and they are preparing for tiling and painting and the first floor has also progressed well”, he said

Speaking at the same time, KCCB Chairman and the Bishop of Homabay Rt. Rev Philip Anyolo said that, the project is important to the church in Kenya for effective evangelization.

“The gospel is twofold, social and spiritual formation of lives, this project is important in this area because there are many religious formation groups, congregations and other community members in the neighbourhood. We feed the people and in order to do that we venture into where people fit to be well fed,” Bishop Anyolo said.

Bishop Anyolo who said it was the Church’s first step towards such developments, thanked Bishop Wainaina for spearheading the project that is expected to be a source of funding to the seminary and other human development activities within the Catholic Church in Kenya.

“We believe it will be complete to help us realize the mission, vision and objectives of the conference which are geared towards helping the human person not only spiritually but also physically and socially”, he said.

Ground breaking of the building took place in October 2016, while the construction begun in January, 2017
The ‘Well’ is a centre where people gather and replenish their water, a very rich image for the church. The bishops therefore are happy that the community around will be coming to replenish their provision and also to socialize and receive spiritual nourishment.

The construction of the mall which is meant to help the Church in Kenya to be self-sustaining is estimated to cost more than Ksh. 500,000 million.
