Oasis Forum Chairperson who is also Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Secretary General Fr. Cleophas said that publicofficerssuchasthepolice,whoseroleitistoprotect everycitizenfromdanger,refuse todischarge their functionsimpartiallyandprofessionally.
Fr. Lungu has also said that the Zambian parliament is so dividedon partylines. “Wedonothavestrongand effective participationinparliament bythoseelectedtorepresent us.We seethatthefateof our countrycouldrest onafight overwhose motorcadeshouldgoaheadfirst. Weseeour leaders whoprofess tobeChristians followinga paththat onlyleadstodarkness, destructionanddespair.ItistheZambian peoplewhoare suffering.Inacountrywherepoverty,illiteracyandpoorhealthare rife,wetheZambian people deservemuchbetterthan this,” he said.

The Oasis Forum also questionedwhen tribeorthepoliticalpartyonebelongstobecome moreimportant thanbeingacitizen ofZambia.
“Almost fifty- fouryears agoourfore fathersbroughtthepeople ofNorthern Rhodesiatogether toformasingleidentity under theslogan, ‘One Zambia, OneNation’.Theseedof divisionthat isbeing sown for politicalgainwill not profitthiscountry. Weneed unityinour country morethan ever andthat canonly comefromasense of commonidentity,asensethatweshareacommonfutureanda loveforourcountry,” he said.
TheOasis Forumhas since called onall leaders inZambia, political,religiousandcivicto cometogetherandtranscend whatever differences exist among them. They urged the political class to saynoto partisan politics, noto thedestructionoftheruleoflaw,notohatredandviolenceand instead upholdunity,peace,love,understandingandourbasichumanity.
