Bishop Clement Mulenga, SDB, has challenged Catholic youths to be productive, creative and generate resources for the youth ministry. He was speaking when he opened the National Council for Catholic Youth in Zambia annual general meeting in Lusaka on Friday, 25th November, 2016.
Making reference to how the youth ministry in the church is generally not financially supported compared to Holy Childhood, Bishop Mulenga said that young people are very gifted and some are working for themselves but questioned how generous they are to the youth ministry.
“How do we run our business, youths are not catered for mainly, and Dioceses cannot distribute the money to you. But youths are gifted and some are working for themselves, but how generous are they to the youth ministry,” he said.
Bishop Mulenga, SDB, who is Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Director for Pastoral further challenged the youth to be creative in generating resources.
He also has asked the youths to evangelise to fellow youths as there is no time to relax. “We do not have time to relax, go out and spend your energies on your fellow young people. Do not be satisfied with what we have,” he advised.
The Bishop Mulenga challenged the youths to marry in church and grow families, saying, “do not fear separation. How did your parents marry? They faced challenges yet they overcame. So marry with white weddings.”
In his vote of thanks, the Chairperson of the National Council for Catholic Youth, affirmed the Bishop, by saying that the future of the church in Zambia depends on the youth.
